Punjab Targets Better Girl Ratio By 2026 With Zero Tolerance Against Foeticide

Punjab has decided that stopping female foeticide is not just a wish but a mission for society, and Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh says Punjab wants to become the best not just better, and the goal is to raise the sex ratio higher than the national average by 2026, and this time the focus is on strict monitoring from the start of pregnancy till delivery, and the government wants every daughter to get her right to be born, and this major step shows serious political will, and Punjab wants to inspire the whole country.

Are Hospitals Now Under Close Watch?

All health staff have been ordered to check every pregnancy detail carefully and stop any attempt of illegal sex determination or pressure on mothers, and these orders mean that doctors nurses and ultrasound centres must follow rules without any excuse, and reports will be checked faster to catch wrongdoing, and this sends a strong message that government is fully alert, and medical teams can no longer ignore suspicious activities, and every case is now everyone’s responsibility, and daughters must be protected before and after birth.

Speaking at a workshop in Chandigarh the Health Minister said the biggest crime is preventing the birth of a girl child, and he announced zero tolerance against this crime which will apply in every district village and hospital, and he warned that no one will be spared if caught even once, and this message is not only for health workers but for families too, and he said society must stop treating daughters as a burden, and this bold step is to stop years of injustice, and this fight needs courage every day.

Civil Surgeons medical officers nurses and ASHA workers will keep eyes on each pregnancy and ensure mothers get safe treatment without fear, and detailed records of checkups reports and hospital visits will be monitored, and these checks will help catch illegal activities before they harm a child, and officials will be trained to stay alert at every step, and this teamwork will give confidence to expecting mothers, and better health support means better dignity for women, and this mission will reach every home soon.

Is PC-PNDT Act Finally Getting Power?

The minister reminded that PC-PNDT Act 1994 was made to stop misuse of machines for sex selection tests, and he said a law works only when society stands with government to implement it fully, and his team wants to make sure inspections become routine not rare, and strict action against violators will build fear in criminals, and citizens must understand that saving daughters is a legal duty also, and the act is now a shield for unborn girls, and Punjab wants the world to notice this change.
